03/31/2008. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "This aircraft was produced as a P5M-2 maritime patrol flying boat and was subsequently fitted with the AN/AQA-3 "Jezebel" acoustic search (passive sonar) and "Julie" echo-ranging (active sonar) systems to become a P5M-2S ASW aircraft.

A total of 115 P5M-2s with a BuNo. were produced:

Another four received a BuNos., 149832/149835, these were P5M-2Gs transferred from the USCG. Most of the P5M-2s were modernized to P5M-2S.

In 1962 the surviving P5M-2s were redesignated P-5B, the P5M-2S became the SP-5B."
