07/03/2005. Remarks by John Voss: "This aircraft was recovered from a swamp in Papua-New Guinea in 1967 where it had been laying since 1943. It had been assigned to the 460th Fighter Group, 340th Fighter Squadron of the US 5th AF. The aircraft was acquired by MoTaT (Museum of Transport and Technology) Auckland, New Zealand, in 1971 and is now in Australia undergoing complete restoration for a return to flying status." |
