05/31/2008. Remarks by John Voss: "The INF was manufactured in October 1930, registered NC649Y and sold new to Casper Rotondo. In July 1931 it was purchased by Samuel Hopkins of Santa Barbara (pictured in the photo), he was killed in a plane crash in the following December.
In 1938 a subsequent owner changed the engine from the original Kinner B-5 to a Warner Scarab 50 and the airplane was reclassified as a RNF model. Following this conversion the aircraft went thru at least six owners and in September 1949 the registration was terminated by the CAA. At the time of termination the last owner was Walter Hoagland of Owensboro Aviation, Kentucky. Reason for the termination was not provided."
