04/30/2008. This aircraft was delivered to the USAAF as a TC-47B-35-DK navigation trainer, s/n 44-77005. It was transferred to the USN as a R4D-7 in May 1945 and was used by the US Marines. In the early fifties it was converted by Douglas to an R4D-8L in early fifties, new c/n 43339. It was redesignated LC-117D in 1962, and it was abandoned at McMurdo, Antarctic after it was damaged on January 12, 1967. |
