Cessna 401

02/28/2014. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Announced on November 1, 1966, the Model 401 was a medium-priced six/eight-seat executive transport, developed in parallel with the nine-seat convertible passenger and freight transport Model 402, with an airframe basically similar to that of the previously-introduced Model 411.

The types were powered by two 300 hp Continental TSIO-520-E six-cylinder horizontally-opposed air-cooled engines, each driving a McCauley three-blade constant-speed fully-feathering propeller.

The same prototype aircraft served for both 401 and 402 models and flew for the first time on August 26, 1965, hence the FAA type certificate, which was awarded on September 20, 1966, also covered both types. The pictured aircraft was built in 1968, it was deregistered on April 18, 2011."
