08/22/2022. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "This aircraft was built during WW II as a Piper J-3 L-4. Some time after the war the aircraft had a mishap at Aérodrome de Fayence – Tourrettes, (17 mls, 27 km west of Cannes, France). It was rebuilt by members of the AAR (l'Association Aéronautique Régionale, Regional Aeronautical Association) of Fayence. Registered F-PHUF on November 23, 1956, it was listed as AAR Camandre No. 1, although there were no modifications compared to the original aircraft. It is powered by a 65 hp Continental A65 horizontally-opposed four-cylinder air-cooled engine. The name Camandre refers to the small river that runs along the aerodrome, hence it is also referred to as the Camandre No.1.
Since the aircraft has changed hands several times, the fifth owner was registered as the Aéro Club de Moulins (ACM) at the Aérodrome de Moulins – Montbeugny on January 19, 1972. The ACM lists the aircraft on their technical aircraft sheet as a Piper J-3 Camandre. Presently the sole Camandre is registered to Frederic Dufresne and it is based at the Aérodrome de Nangis Les Loges, Clos-Fontaine, 35 mls (56 km) south-east of Paris."
