After being withdrawn from use, the aircraft was placed in open storage at El Aakha AB, from 1970 on. The aircraft was one of 41 Let Le-10 C-11s that were bought in 1985 by the Frenchmen Alain Capel and Jean-Baptiste Salis, the aircraft were shipped to the Aérodrome de Cerny-La Ferté-Alais, France.
In 1987, the aircraft was registered in the USA as N18AW to Ascher Ward of Van Nuys, California, not as a Let Le-10 C-11, but as a Yakovlev Yak-11. On May 1, 1989, it was reregistered to Thomas L. Subsequently it was listed as racer number 58 "Maniyak", later racer number 00 "Mr. Awful", then as racer number 2 "Maniyak".
In January 2001, James A. Nezgoda of Genoa, Nevada became the next owner, however, aircraft crashed the next month on take off from Eagles Nest Airport near Ione, California. It was repaired and reappeared as racer number 27 "Maniyak". The last and present owner became William 'Bill' J. Lewallen of Eloy, Arizona on November 16, 2002.
