"The Lysander was designed to comply with Air Ministry specification A.39/34
for a two-seat Army co-operation aircraft to replace the Hawker Hector.
A contract for two prototypes (s/n K6127, K6128) was signed in June 1935 and the pictured first had its
maiden fight on June 15, 1936. The first production prototype (s/n L4673) was
flown on March 25, 1938. A total of 169 Lysander Mk.I‘s were produced."
