Saunders-Roe SR.53

08/31/2012. Remarks by Ray Watkins: "The XD145 was the first of the two prototype examples of the SR.53 to be built, of the three contracted for in May 1953. It had its first flight on May 16, 1957, and made 31 successful test flights, but after a fatal accident with the second aircraft (s/n XD151) in June 1958 it was grounded and never flew again. It is on display at the RAF Museum at Cosford." Additional photo (site files).
