Ray Watkins: "This was one of the three prototypes (s/n 55-4459 to 55-4461) of the helicopter that went into production initially as the HU-1 (from which the nickname
"Huey" came) and later as the legendary UH-1 Iroquois family of helicopters. The first XH-40-BF was flown by Floyd Carlson on October 20, 1956, the day that Lawrence Bell died."
