Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Produced for the USAAF, this B-17F-40-BO was delivered to the United Air Lines Modification Center at Cheyenne Municipal Airport, Wyoming, for modification for RAF service on October 23, 1942. The following December 11, it was transferred to the UK (under Lend-Lease) as a Fortress II, s/n FA707. It flew patrol and antisubmarine missions with No. 206 and No. 220 Squadron from the UK. No. 220 Squadron moved to the Azores on October 18, 1943, FA707 was lost when it ditched in the Atlantic Ocean, off San Muguel, Azores, on July 26, 1944."
