06/30/2008. Produced in 1993 this aircraft was sold to Robert "Bob" Dempster and his wife Diane. Fitting it with full IFR equipment and increasing the fuel capacity from the 36 gal (136 l) to 96 gal (363 l), it was prepared for flying around the world.

Bob and Diane started their flight at the Museum of Flight, Seattle, Washington in July 1994. Visiting summer fly-inns all over the USA, they continued via Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Faroe Islands, and Scotland, arriving at London, England on September 25, 1994. The Super Cub was left in the UK for the winter season.

The Dempsters resumed their flight on March 25, 1995, and via France, Italy, Greece, Egypt, Saudia Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Burma, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, they arrived at Darwin, Australia on May 2, 1995. After flying all over Australia they left their "Howdy" again behind, this time in Sydney.

After the fuel capacity was increased again, by 30 gal (114 l) to 126 gal (477 l), the third and final part of their world flight was started at Sydney in May 1996. Returning to Darwin via the eastern coast, the flight continued north to Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, and Okinawa. When they arrived at Amami-o-shima at the Ryuku islands, they were notified their flight plan across Russia was denied, so they returned to Okinawa, disassembled "Howdy" and shipped it back to Seattle.

On August 23, 2000 Bob, Diane and "Howdy" established an official speed record of 99.49 mls (160.12 km)/h over a recognized course between Seattle, and Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
