05/31/2011. First flown in the USA under the registration NC132B, the aircraft became the first commercial helicopter imported into Canada, when it was registered to the Photographic Survey Company of Downsview as CF-FJA on March 12, 1947. Initially it was used for crop dusting demonstrations in southern Ontario, later it was contracted by the Ontario Department of Lands and Forests. The following year it was hired by the electric utility Ontario Hydro, and used in pioneering trials of transmission lines patrol.
Subsequently the aircraft returned to the USA where it was initially registered N74098, later it became N652HA. During its career the original 175 hp Franklin O-335 engine was replaced by a 200 hp Lycoming VO-435 engine, hence it became a Model 47G-2. Eventually it became a Model 47G-2A when fitted with a wider cabin with separate seats, modified rotor blades and provision for a larger fuel load.
