11/30/2007. Remarks by Dennis Baer: "I have the pleasure to report that Argosy prototype was not destroyed when the Museum's WW II era hanger burned to the ground in October 2004. It survived untouched and remains on static display, while the Yankee Air Force is in the process of reestablishing their headquarters in a new building at Willow Run Airport."

03/31/2007. Remarks by Jack McKillop: "This was the prototype Argosy. It made its first flight on January 8, 1959 registered G-AOZZ and was delivered to British European Airways (BEA) on December 19, 1961. It was sold to the US cargo airline Universal Airlines on December 7, 1968, registered as N896U, and after being sold to two other companies, it was leased by the Alaska Bureau of Land Management. Donated to the Yankee Air Force (YAF) in December 1991, it was registered to the Museum on January 23, 1992. Withdrawn from use, deregistered October 20, 1993, it was placed on display the YAF headquarters in Willow Run Airport, Michigan. It is believed that this aircraft was destroyed when a hanger caught fire at the museum in October 2004."
