The following text from Aviation Week is not unique to the aircraft
pictured:
06/27/1960. The F8U-2N is armed with four Sidewinders amd a 0.787 in
(20 mm) cannon. The autopilot permits the pilot to hold altitude,
heading or pitch and roll atitude by pushing a button on the
control stick. A change in heading or bank angle can be made by
turning a dial. The aircraft is scheduled to begin carrier test
trials in the summer of 1960.
02/05/1965. First aircraft to land aboard the nuclear-powered
aircraft carrier Enterprise (CVAN-65) was a Chance Vought F8U-1
Crusader piloted by Cdr. George Talley, commander of Carrier
Group 1, who was also the first pilot to be catapulted from the
carrier's deck.
