Remarks by Seth Schlifer:
"This sailplane is actually a Schleicher K-6E, not a Scheibe
L-SPATZ. The L-SPATZ was a steel tube frame, and fabric covered. The
nose displayed the typical angular shape due to this construction
method. The K-6E, however, has a plywood monocoque construction,
which allowed for lovely compound curves, as shown in the photo. Also
the horizontal "stabilator" on the K-6E is a giveaway
feature." (Note: This aircraft was originally mis-identified by
me as an L-SPATZ.) |
