08/15/2008. Produced as a C-54B-15-DO Skymaster the aircraft was delivered to the USAAF on October 30, 1944, s/n 43-17184. On November 27, 1945, the aircraft was bought by Douglas and it became the eighteenth C-54 converted to an airliner, and in this configuration it was delivered to United Air Lines on April 2, 1946, registered as N30048 and named N30048 "Mainliner Olympic".

After more than ten years with United the aircraft was sold on November 30, 1956 to Transocean Airlines, becoming one of 68 DC-4/C-54 the airlines has operated. The following October it was sold to Asiatic Animal Imports, who immediately leased it to Seven Seas Airlines. Seven Seas subleased the aircraft to US Overseas Airlines from July 3, 1958 to September 29, 1958. It was returned to Asiatic on May 6, 1960. In 1961 it was sold to Belgian International Air Services and leased to Air Congo.

On November 29, 1964, it was to make a non-scheduled domestic flight with three crew and eleven passengers from Léopoldville-N'Djili Airport, to Kamina Airport in the Democratic Republic of Congo. About 2,950 ft (900 m) into the take off run the aircraft hit an empty fuel drum with the nose wheel, the drum bounced against the right stabilizer that was partly torn away. The aircraft became uncontrollably airborne and crashed beside the runway. The three crew and 3 passengers were killed and the aircraft was damaged beyond repair.
