09/30/2009. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Produced in 1959 as a Mk.I, this aircraft was used for manufacturers tests and demonstrations, registered as CF-LWM. Before deliverey to the RCAF (s/n 5321) on August 8, 1960, the aircraft had been upgraded to a Mk.IA, and was used in the same year in Egypt and Gaza in United Nations colours. Struck off charge on June 15, 1971, it was sold to the Tanzanian Air Force, s/n JW9013.
Withdrawn from military use, the aircraft came on the civil registry in Tanzania as 5H-AAE, before it was sold to John Woods of Dallas, Texas, USA in March 1979, registered as N1016S, reregistered N32620 on August 31, 1982. The registration was cancelled on June 10, 2002, after the aircraft had been derelict for several years at Djibouti, Africa, reportedly after a heavy landing."
The photos were taken on occasion of a DHC public relations tour, as stated by Ron: "The civilians in one of the photos were reporters from the Edmonton area. I got a ride on the plane with the reporters... just went up to someone and asked if they had room for me. "Sure, get in." That wouldn't happen today!"
