This was one of the C-47s ordered by the USAAF for delivery to the RAF
under Lend-Lease and it was delivered to the RAF on March 7, 1943,
designated Dakota Mk.I s/n FD789. During its days with the RAF, this
aircraft was based in England and assigned to No. 24 and No. 512
Squadrons at RAF Hendon, MIddlesex (April 1943-March 1944); No. 105
(Transport) Operational Training Unit (OTU) at RAF Bramcote,

thus the designation DC-3C-S1C3G. |
