Douglas DC-3C

11/30/2011. Remarks by Jack McKillop: "This aircraft was built as a Douglas Model DC-3A-405 and delivered to the USAAF as a C-53-DO Skytrooper, s/n 42-6492 on May 22, 1942. Assigned to the USAAF's Air Transport Command (ATC), the aircraft was operated by Pan American Airways on flights to Africa until reassigned to ATC units. On August 8, 1944, it was sold to the US airline Mid-Continent Airlines of Kansas City, Missouri and was delivered on August 11, 1944 and converted to a DC-3C. On August 15, 1952, Mid-Continent merged with Braniff International Airways of Dallas, Texas.

Trans Texas Airways of Houston, Texas purchased the aircraft on December 1, 1959 and operated it until it was sold to Modern Air Transport of Newark, New Jersey in May 1965. The next owner was Provincetown-Boston Airline of Provincetown, Massachusetts who purchased it on February 29, 1968 and it was reregistered N233P on May 20, 1968, N233PB in 1970 and N33PB on May 21, 1972. In April 1986, this aircraft was sold to the Venezuelan airline Aeroejecutivos of La Carlota registered YV-427C. By 1993, it was no longer registered and its fate is unknown."
