Remarks by Jack McKillop: "This aircraft was ordered by the USAAF as a C-47-DL Skytrain, Douglas Model DC-3A-360. It was delivered to the USAAF as 41-18502 on August 9, 1942 and was assigned to the USAAF's Eighth Air Force in England on November 3, 1942. The C-47 was returned to the US on August 22, 1945 and transferred to the RFC, the government agency tasked with disposing of surplus materials, on November 13, 1945. The aircraft was purchased by Canadian Pacific Airlines of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, on December 7, 1945, registered as CF-CPV, converted to a DC-3C passenger aircraft and assigned Fleet Number 172.

On September 1, 1957, the aircraft was sold to Transair Limited of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; it was re-registered CF-TAR on November 2, 1961. The aircraft crashed and was destroyed on October 7, 1970; details of the crash are unknown."
