Vega Aircraft Corp. was a wholly-owned subsidary of Lockheed. The Lockheed 37 PV-1 Ventura patrol bomber production was transferred to Vega. At that time the Navy discussed a redesign for the maritime patrol role. The redesign was so major that the Basic Model Number was changed to Vega 15. |
