04/19/2007. Remarks by Dave Simpson: "The oldest active B-26 was built in 1941 as a B-26-MA Marauder, USAAF s/n 40-1464. On January 15, 1942 it made a forced landing at Smith River, British Columbia, Canada. After nearly thirty years the aircraft was recovered and brought to Chino, California, USA, where the Military Aircraft Restoration Corp. undertook a long term restoration to flying condition. On completion the aircraft was registered as N4297J in April 1991. It was sold to Kermit Weeks in 1992 and is now residing at the Fantasy of Flight." |
