Nico Braas: "Eventually, the Welkin was never operational at the RAF, although a batch of 75 planes was delivered. The Mk.II was built to Spec. F.9/43 and intended as a high-altitude night fighter, and first flown 23 October 1944. In 1945 the second prototype under construction was cancelled."
