Excerpted from British Built Aircraft by Ron Smith: "Foster Wickner Aircraft Co. Ltd. Was founded by V. Foster, G.N. Wickner (designer) and J.F. Lusty in Bow Common, London, UK, in 1934. G.N. Wickner had designed the high-winged Wicko Sports and Wicko Lion, both were built in Australia and were the base for the Foster Wickner Ford V-8 powered Wicko F.W.1. It was followed by the Cirrus Minor powered Wicko F.W.2 and the Cirrus Major powered Wicko F.W.3.
Final version was the Gipsy Major powered Wicko G.M.1, the prototype G-AENU was first flown from Stapleford Towney, Essesx, UK, on 21 September 1936. The company moved to Eastleigh near Southampton, Hampshire in 1937. A total of eleven were built of which ten were flown; eight were impressed into the RAF for wartime communications duties under the name Warferry."
