04/19/2007. Remarks by Jack McKillop: "This is the 679th 747 built and it made its first flight on May 16, 1987 registered N1788B; it was reregistered N6005C in July 1990. Delivered to the USAF on August 23, 1990, it was issued to the 89th Military Airlift Wing (MAW), Twenty First Air Force, Military Airlift Command (MAC) based at Andrews AFB, Maryland, USA.

In a 1991 reorganization, MAC was redesignated Air Mobility Command (AMC) and the 89th MAW became the 89th Airlift Wing (AW). In 2001, the aircraft was reassigned to the Presidential Airlift Group, 89th AW and in 2003 the 89th AW was reassigned to the Eighteenth Air Force.

This aircraft uses the call sign 'Air Force 1' when the President of the USA is aboard and uses the radio call sign '28000' at all other times."
