This Sabre was built for the German AF and flew for the first time on June 15, 1957, coded BB+170 and served with Waffenschule 10 at Oldenburg. In 1967 it was given the test series registration D-9538 and was civil operated by Condor as a target tug. After a year it was diverted to ground training at the technical school TSLw 3 at Fassberg.

In 1977 it was sold and stored at Wroughton in the UK, in 1979 it was sold to Flight Systems Inc. at Mojave, California, USA and transferred registered as N1039C, being reregistered as N82FS in 1981. In 1993 it was sold to Gerald Smith in Paso Robles, California, registered as N186JC, it was finished as a North American F-86F-35-NA Sabre, s/n 53-1186, of the Skyblazers. In 1997 it was sold to Steve Snyder of New Jersey and was seen in several airshows. On June 19, 1999 the Sabre was destroyed in a crash at South Jersey Regional Airport, New Jersey. The pilot, Steve Snyder was killed.
