02/28/2008. The Tu-95RT had as primary mission maritime reconnaissance and target indication for submarines and surface ships armed with cruise missiles. The undernose radome housed a missile guidance radar, while the huge fuselage radome housed a radar for targeting ships on or over the horizon. The blisters on the rear fuselage contained receiver antennas, while streamlined antenna pods were attached to the tail plane tips. |
