Designed by Dr. Sam Williams to test and demonstrate the light turbofan FJX-2 for the general aviation under the General Aviation Propulsion (GAP) program as part of NASA's Advanced General Aviation Transport Experiments (AGATE) program to revitalize general aviation. Design was refined and built by Scaled Composites (Model 271) for Williams, and first flew April 1997. When tests were concluded the V-jet was acquired by Eclipse Aviation and after investigation donated to the EAA AirVenture Museum on July 26, 2000. View also photo 8497. |
