12/31/2012. Remarks by Philo Lund: "This aircraft belonged to Patrol Squadron VP-40, based at that time at NAS North Island, San Diego. The aircraft wore the tail code "CA", and the pictured aircraft was "CA-5". VP-40 made several tours to the Far East, here a 1952 departure photo in front of "CA-11" (BuNo. 84760), and a photo of the solving of an engine oil leak after three cylinders of the left engine on "CA-11" had blown. Seen aboard the tender Salisbury Sound in Buckner Bay, Okinawa, 1953, is "CA-4"."
