Remarks by Ron Dupas, 1000aircraftphotos webmaster: In January 2002 Jim Lyzun contacted me about some of the Royal Canadian Air Force photos that were on this website, asking for prints to add to his collection. Over the ensuing months we exchanged prints and images. It was an unpleasant surprise to learn that Jim passed away in hospital on Tuesday, January 28, 2003, after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. Born on August 9, 1945, he spent his childhood growing up in Oshawa, Ontario. In 1967, he graduated from Ryerson Polytechnical Institue as an aeronautical engineer and for seveal years worked for De Havilland Aircraft of Canada on projects such as the Buffalo Aircraft and the Hydrofoil. Jim was an aviation historian, and Jim's knowledge and love of aircraft was well-known through his published works in aviation magazines and his partnership with Joe Osmulski in Flightdecs, a model supply company in Canada. |
