Dan Shumaker finishes what he starts, no matter how long it takes. He soloed in 1963 in a Piper PA-12 that has been in his family since 1950. Dan completed the restoration of this PA-12 (NC2666M) in 2010 in time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of his solo, 19 July 2013. Hopefully, NC2666M will be in the Shumaker family for another fifty years. Dan's father worked as an aircraft mechanic since before WWII, and Dan obtained his A&P certification in 1982. Between the two of them they have owned, flown, maintained, and restored a number of aircraft: A Cessna Airmaster, a Funk, a Taylorcraft, a Mooney Mite, two Fairchild 24s, a Maule M5-235C and a Beechcraft "Staggerwing". The "Staggerwing" is Dan's next restoration project. As anyone this involved in aviation would do, Dan has taken a lot of photographs of aircraft, many of which appear here.
