Fairchild FC-2W1

From the Quebec Air and Space Museum: "In December 1927, Canadian Transcontinental Airways (CTA) from Quebec, Canada was awarded a contract to deliver mail to the "North Shore" to replace delivery by dogsleds in winter when shipping is interrupted by ice.

Two experienced pilots were chosen, Romeo Vachon and Duke Schiller, veterans from Laurentide Air Service and from Ontario Provincial Air Services. The operations were based at Lac Ste-Agnes near La Malbaie, Quebec, where the railroad terminal was located. From that point, the company Fairchild FC-2W1 delivered mail to 28 small villages along the coast.

CTA also got a contract for winter mail delivery out of Moncton to the Magdaleans Islands. In 1928, CTA also began air mail service on the Quebec-Toronto route."
