08/12/2006. Remarks by Jack McKillop: "The C-54GM was essentially an unpressurized Douglas C-54G Skymaster with Rolls-Royce Merlin liquid cooled engines. This aircraft was delivered to the RCAF on March 8, 1948 and served all or part of its career in Canada with No. 426 (Transport) Squadron, Air Transport Command, based at RCAF Station Dorval, Quebec, (February 1948-August 31, 1959), RCAF Station Trenton, Ontario (September 1, 1959-December 31, 1961) and RCAF Station St. Hubert, Quebec (January 1-August 1962).

During the Korean War, the aircraft operated from McChord AFB, Tacoma, Washington, USA, flying personnel and equipment to Tokyo, Japan.

In September 1965, this aircraft was transferred to Canada's National Research Council and reregistered CF-SVP-X. In February 1979, it was sold to Aircraft Salvage of Dallas at Lancaster Airport, Lancaster, Texas, USA, withdrawn from use, stored and used for spare parts."
