03/31/2011. Remarks by Jack McKillop: "The DC-8-43 was intended for intercontinental operations and was powered by four 17,500 lb (7,938 kg) st Rolls-Royce Conway R.Co.12 bypass engines. Fuel capacity was 23,400 gal (88,579 liters) and the maximum take off weight was 315,000 lbs (142,882 kg).

This was the 124th DC-8 built and was delivered to the Canadian airline Canadian Pacific Airlines (CPA) of Vancouver, British Columbia on February 22, 1961, registered CF-CPF, fleet number '601' and named 'Empress of Vancouver'; it was renamed 'Empress of Rome' in 1968.

This was the first of six DC-8-43s purchased by Canadian Pacific. CPA was renamed CP Air in April 1969 and the aircraft was renamed 'Empress of Santiago'. It was sold to the Colombian airline ARCA Colombia (Aerovias Colombianas) of Villavicencio on November 23, 1981 and immediately withdrawn from use and stored in Miami, Florida, USA. The aircraft was scrapped on November 6, 1990 in Miami."
