McKillop: "This aircraft was delivered to the US airline
Northwest Orient Airlines on June 30, 1948, registered N93061 and
assigned fleet number 561. In October 1951, it was sold to
Transocean Airlines (TALOA) of Oakland, California, USA and leased to
Japan Air Lines from February 23, to October 1952 and named
"Kasei".
In November 1952, the aircraft was sold to
Southwest Airways and this and three other Martin 2-0-2s were used
to start service in northern California on April 26, 1953. This
aircraft was damaged beyond repair when there was a fire in a
hanger at San Francisco Airport on December 30, 1955."
For marketing reasons the model 202 is also known as 2-O-2 or Two-O-Two. Read also the remarks on page
