Pinn: "The Focke-Wulf 187 was originally designed as a single
seat fighter along similar lines as aircraft such as the Westland
Whirlwind. It was then modified to compete with the Messerschmitt Bf
110 by changing it to a two-seat 'Zerstörer' configuration. As
the Bf 110 had better performance as well as a rearward firing gun,
production of the FW 187 was stopped after only three production
aircraft had been built. These were used in Focke-Wulf's factory
defence squadron." View also the History
