Remarks by Carlo Soliani: "According some reports this photo depicts the prototype of the famous italian fighter Fiat C.R.42 (first flew on May 23, 1938), while other sources identify it as the first production series aircraft (delivered in early 1939). The acronym C.R. means Caccia Rosatelli (Rosatelli Fighter), being Ing. Celestino Rosatelli (1885-1945) the designer." |
