Johan Visschedijk: "The Bluebird was the first in a series of homebuilt aircraft designed and built by James M. Wickham, an engineer of the Boeing company at Seattle, Washington. The all-metal construction sport model A was constructed over a seven year period and was first flown during 1955.
Initially it was powered by an 115 hp Lycoming O-235 engine and flown as a two-seater. Later it was re-engined with an 135 hp Lycoming O-290-D2 engine, allowing the carriage of four persons.
During the late 1990s the aircraft was completely restored by Tim and Kathy Davies of Auburn, Washington. The Bluebird remained a one-of-a-kind aircraft and is still registered with an expiration date of July 31, 2028.
James Wickham also built the models
