Wittman W-8 Tailwind

12/10/2001. Remarks by owner Mike Zandstra: "Between 2001 and 2003 C-FPDS has been overhauled. The plane has been completely disassembled, right down to bare tubing. The fuselage was checked for corrosion - none was found. New windows all around and there were a few modifications including side windows behind the doors. All new interior, floor, carpet, insulation. There is new fabric and paint. The wings are plywood covered, but the fabric was replaced and navigation lights and strobes were added.

Also a completely new instrument panel, some new instruments, an electrical system - battery, alternator, and all wiring is new. A Microair 760 radio and a panel intercom were added. New ELT (emergency locator transmitter) and new tail wheel assembly. Wood propeller overhauled and painted - a new hard leading edge added. A zero-timed Lycoming O-290D to replace the O-290G that couldn't be salvaged. The only parts reused were the carburetor, magnetos and oil pump."
