06/30/2008. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "On July 29, 1949, this F-84E-1-RE was assigned to the 2750th Air Base Wing at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. While flown by John M. Fitzpatrick on January 7, 1950, the engine stopped due to lack of oil. The aircraft crash landed 35 mls west of Watson Lake, Yukon Territory, Canada and was subsequently written off.
The pilot escaped injuries and was spotted within 25 minutes after the crash by RCAF Flight Lieutenant Arthur Barnard Hammond and his crew, flying North Star 17511 on a routine flight from Edmonton to Whitehorse.
