Damen: "MLD Lockheed SP-2H Neptune '212' coming in low and
slow at NAS Valkenburg at the end of a patrol over the North Sea in
the summer of 1964. All Neptunes had been re-coverted to P-2H
standard by that time, which included the re-installation of the
glazed over nose for the observer.
Type history with the MLD (Marine Luchtvaart Dienst = Naval Air Service):
15 aircraft P2V-7B (P-2H) and P2V-7S
(SP-2H) from Lockheed. Delivered September 8, 1961 to March 2, 1962,
used by 321 Squadron, 5 Squadron and 320 Squadron. Serials 200 to 214.
4 aircraft P2V-7 from French Navy received October 25, 1965. Serials
215 to 218, used by 320 Squadron.
All but one converted to SP-2H standard with glazed nose. Used for
maritime patrol/ASW duties. Last withdrawn July 22, 1982, replaced by
Lockheed P-3 Orions."
