09/30/2007. Remarks by Jack McKillop: "This aircraft made its first flight from Hurn, England on July 28, 1964 and was delivered to British United Airways (BUA) on May 22, 1965 registered G-ASJF. This is one of ten BAC One-Eleven's ordered by this airline. On October 21, 1970, BUA merged with Caledonian Airways to form Caledonian/BUA; the company was renamed British Caledonian Airways in September 1971 and this aircraft was named 'Burgh of Fort William'. This aircraft crossed the Atlantic when it was sold in the USA to the low cost carrier Pacific Express on April 30, 1982, and reregistered N103EX it operated in California and Nevada. The airline went bankrupt in March 1984 and it was repossessed by British Jet Aircraft Company. It was leased to Cascade Airways, a low cost carrier of Spokane, Washington, USA, between October 19, 1984 and January 1986 when the airline failed. The final sale was to Florida Express of Orlando, Florida, in January 1986. The aircraft was scrapped at Orlando International Airport the following month." |
