02/28/2008. The Wright EX (a modified long-wing R) was built in 1911
and sold to Calbraith "Cal" Perry Rodgers, who used it to cross the
American continent by air. He departed Sheepshead Bay, near New York
City, on September 17, 1911, reached Chicago on October 9, and arrived
at Pasadena on November 5, 1911. In those 49 days he made 69 stops and
was only 82 hours and 4 minutes in the air. |
