05/15/2007. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "Because the design and production of aircraft were prohibited in Germany after WW II, Dornier established technical offices in Madrid, Spain. First design was the Do 25, a general purpose two-seat aircraft for operations out of small unprepared fields. Powered by an 150 hp ENMA Tigre G-IVB engine the sole Do 25 flew for the first time on June 24, 1954.
From it the six-seat Do 27 was developed, powered by a 275 hp Lycoming GO-480-B1A6 engine the first prototype flew on June 27, 1955. As the ban on aircraft design and production in Germany was lifted in 1955, the project was transferred to Germany and the first Do 27 A production aircraft was flown at Oberpfaffenhofen on October 27, 1956.
CASA in Spain built 50 Do-27A-1s under license for the Spanish AF as the C-127 and the first was flown on December 3, 1959. Initially it received the military designation L.9, this was later altered to U.9. The pictured aircraft belonged to 403 Squadron."
