Ron Smith: “The diminutive single-seat Gnome was designed and built by Michael Ward at North Scarle, Lincolnshire and first flew at nearby Wigsley on August 4, 1967. The Gnome is the UK's smallest aircraft with a span of 15 ft 9 in (4.80 m), and a length of only 11 ft 6 in (3.51 m). Its registration was cancelled a long time ago.
