01/31/2011. To counter continuous technical problems with their A310-222 transports, the Belgian Ministry of Defense leased a Airbus A330-300.
The aircraft made its first flight on April 12, 1995, registered as F-WWKP. Subsequently it was sold to the International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC), and it was registered as 9M-MKZ to Malaysian AS on January 11, 1996. Three years later it came to Belgium for service with SABENA and was registered on April 14, 1999 as OO-SFX, however SABENA ceased operations on November 7, 2001, and for over a year the aircraft was unused, being stored at Brussels, Belgium, and in France at Toulouse and Bordeaux.
On December 4, 2002, it was registered CS-TMT and leased to Air Luxor, who subleased it to Garuda Indonesia on January 10, 2004 for three months. ILFC leased it to the Portuguese airline Hi Fly on October 11, 2005, who subleased to Air Nuigini for one flight on July 15, 2006, and Hi Fly operated it for the Australian AF in September 2008. It was subleased to the Belgian Air Component on October 25, 2009.
