04/30/2008. In 1932, former Granville Brothers engineer, test pilot and draftsman Robert 'Bob' L. Hall built two aircraft at Bowles-Agawam Field, Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1932, assisted by students from the Baltrun Flying Service flight school.

Built for Marion Price Guggenheim, the Bulldog was a single-seat speedster to compete in the 1932 Cleveland Air Races August 27 through September 5, to be flown by Russell Thaw, the chief pilot for the Guggenheim family. A 535 hp Pratt & Whitney Wasp Junior nine-cylinder air-cooled radial engine was fitted driving one of the first Hamilton Standard controllable pitch propellers.

Registered as NR2111 and listed as Racer number "6" the aircraft was flown for the first time by Bob Hall in early August 1932. Although the aircraft was accepted by Thaw, he declined to fly the aircraft in At Cleveland, eventually Bob flew the aircraft at Cleveland. Bob Hall qualified the 'Bulldog' at 243.717 mph (392.225 kmh), but placed sixth in the race with a disappointing 215.57 mph (346.93 kmh), he subsequently dismantled the aircraft.
