03/31/2010. Remarks by Johan Visschedijk: "In September 2008 a contingent of eight Harriers of No. 4 Squadron participated in the 'Red Flag' exercise at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Accompanied by two British Aircraft Corporation 1106 VC-10 C.1K support tankers of No. 101 Squadron, they left Cottesmore, UK on September 8, making stops at Lajes, Azores, Portugal and St. Johns, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

The eight Harriers and two VC-10s were:

VC-10 C.Mk.1K (XV101)

Accompanied on the return flight by the VC-10 C.Mk.1Ks XV101 c/n 831 and XV106 c/n 838, the Harriers staged through London, Ontario, Canada, and Halifax, Nova Scotia, returning at Cottesmore on October 1, 2008."
