Most interesting entry in 1949 Goodyear was maniature "P-38" pusher plane built by students of Lawrence Institute of Technology, of Detroit and piloted by Carlton B. Ambler, G-I student and one of the plane's builders. A high wing pusher, steel constructed fuselage is fabric covered. Booms and rudder are of aluminum with steel fin, stabilizer and elevator fabric covered. Ship has overall length of 20 ft 8 in (6.30 m), wing span 20 ft 0 in (6.10 m). Three pushers were entered this year's Goodyear, but 29 was only one to arrive in Cleveland. Plane did 128 mph (206 kmh) in qualifying run.
